This truck sounds so damn good. I finally get why people like big V8’s.
Also, I’m not texting, I was turning the GoPro on and off with my phone.
Here’s a shittier video with better sound. This was not taken in portrait. My phone edited it weird.

Looks and sounds really cool!
I saw your other thread and it seems really clean under the hood too. However you need to add dual throttle springs to the carb.

Welcome to the ‘Murica side, we have torque for days.

Tell me more about these dual throttle springs. I'm new to carbs.

The nuclear power plant really ties that video together. The torque is a blast. My wife used to dd a 335d which had something like 425 lb-ft so I have some experience with torque monsters. It feels a lot nicer coming from a carb with a real throttle though.

Sure.
Basically, if you look at your underhood pic you will see a single spring running from the plate on the throttle shaft to a bracket on the front of your intake manifold. That spring helps close your throttle when you take your foot off of the gas. Simple and effective.
BUT
The springs can and do fail, especially thin ones. You don’t hear of it a lot anymore since most cars don’t have this type of throttle, but when they break your engine can “run away” from you. So a lot of people run two springs, either side-by-side or one-over-the-other.
You can get different springs of different tensions, since heavier springs can lead to a heavier gas pedal.
Not everybody chooses to run a second spring, and in some cases the factory didn’t install duals, but it’s a safety feature you might want to add since it’s very cheap.

Good to know. I think I’ll do that to my Corvair as well. Every once in a while the spring hangs up and I need to blip the throttle to stop it from revving.
